Uberkatzen - I am running the full software setup downloaded from the HP site (did that to another machine). The only articles I find from search engine refer to people who have the printer installed from the network and want to switch it to USB.Īll updates to OS are current and the system DOES NOT have an anti-virus software running (as it is not connected to anything).

I can't find any reference on the HP site. I have used the Nirsoft USBDevice Viewer to remove all other USB devices to ensure the USB port(s) are released. I have plugged other USB devices in to the ports to make sure they are working. I have tried doing a VERY COMPLETE uninstall of all printers (there were previous AIOs, which can be problematic for Windows XP) including clearing them from the registry and reinstall.

The setup does not recognize when I attach the printer. The printer runs fine with Wireless networking on other systems, but this one does not have network connectivity and we want to use a USB cable. I'm installing an HP Officejet 6600 on a Windows XP SP3 system.
